Heyworth came up short to Tri-Valley 8-5 in Heart of Illinois high school softball action on Wednesday in Heyworth.
Tri-Valley jumped out to an early lead, scoring one run in the first and four runs in the second.
The Lady Hornets responded with two runs in the second.
Trailing 7-3 in the bottom of the sixth, with Natalie Kopp on base, Sidney Ditchen homered on a fly ball to right field, bringing the score to 7-5. However, Tri-Valley added one more run in the top of the seventh to ultimately secure the victory.
Ditchen went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, including a home run in the sixth inning. Ellasyn Loudenburg was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Gabby Dow went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Heyworth falls to 8-11 overall and 1-7 in the Heart of Illinois Conference. They visit Fieldcrest on Friday.
