HS Softball: Clinton Falls to Tuscola

Tuscola topped Clinton 10- 2 on Wednesday in Central Illinois Conference high school softball action from Clinton High School. 

 

The Lady Maroons' two runs both came in the bottom of the sixth inning. Anelise Thompson hit a one-out double. After a sacrifice bunt, Avery Smith singled on a pop fly to shortstop, bringing home Thompson for Clinton's first run. Hadley Humble followed with a single to center field, scoring Smith. 

 

Smith was 3-for-3 with an RBI while Thompson finished 1-for-4 and scored a run. Humble went 1-for-3 and drove in one run. 

 

Tuscola used a seven-run outburst in the top of the seventh inning to pull away late. 

 

Haynes pitched a complete game, allowing nine hits and 10 runs - 2 earned- while striking out 8.

 

The Lady Maroons fall to 4-12 overall and are 0-5 in the CIC. They are off until Monday when they host Tri-Valley.
