HS Baseball: Maroa-Forsyth Blanks Auburn

Mitch Williams pitched into the seventh inning, and Tate Brandenburg had a big day at the plate, leading Maroa-Forsyth to a 2-0 win over Auburn in Sangamo Conference high school baseball action on Thursday in Auburn.

 

Williams struck out eight across 6 1/3 innings of two-hit ball. He walked just two. 

Camden Trendler struck out the final two batters of the game to close out the win. 

 

The Trojans scored their only two runs of the game in the top of the sixth inning. Gunnar Larner singled home Brandenburg for a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Kaden Blunck - running for Larner - scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. 

 

Brandenburg was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Lanrer finished 1-for-3 with an RBI while Williams and Trendler had the other two hits for the Trojans. 

 

Maroa-Forsyth improves to 14-5 overall and 5-1 in the Sangamo Conference. Thursday's win is the fifth straight for the Trojans. They will travel to St. Joseph-Ogden for a non-conference showdown on Friday afternoon.
