Monticello scored eight runs in the fourth inning rolling to a 14-5 win over Sullivan in non-conference high school softball action on Tuesday in Sullivan.
Trailing 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth, Monticello's bats came alive. The rally began with a single by Cassidee Stoffel, scoring Sadie Walsh and Lucy Leatherwood. Ali Weidner followed with a double, bringing in Thea Key and Stoffel.
The extra-base hits continued as Avery Schweitzer doubled, scoring Ashley Stiverson and Weidner. Lucy Leatherwood then added another double, driving in Schweitzer. The inning's offensive fireworks concluded with a double from Sadie Walsh, scoring Leatherwood and pushing Monticello's lead to 11-4.
Stoffel led the offensive charge, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs. Walsh added two doubles and two RBIs. Schweitzer and Leatherwood each added a double and two RBIs.
The Lady Sages go to 20-5 overall. They travel to Maroa-Forsyth on Wednesday.
