Blue Ridge held off Arcola 7-5 in Lincoln Prairie Conference high school softball action on Wednesday from Farmer City.
The Lady Knights jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring three runs. Arcola miscues helped Addison Roos and Karlee Fenton get into scoring position, allowing Lillian Enger to drive in Roos with a single. Fenton later scored on an RBI groundout by Ellie Hayward.
Arcola responded, but Blue Ridge added another run in the bottom of the third. Carsyn Stiger was hit by a pitch, advanced on a groundout, and then scored on an RBI single by Fenton.
The Lady Knights extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two more runs. Presley Hardesty singled and stole second, Macy Woliung singled then Carmen Ellis delivered a clutch two-RBI triple to put Blue Ridge ahead 6-3.
The Lady Knights added their final run in the bottom of the sixth. Fenton led off with a single, advanced on a passed ball, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Hayward.
In circle, Ellie Schleiper went the distance for Blue Ridge, striking out ten batters.
Fenton led the way for the Lady Knights, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Roos had two hits while junior Ellis had the key two-RBI triple.
Blue Ridge is 11-9 overall and 5-4 in the Lincoln Prairie Conference. They are off until Monday when they visit Fisher to begin the final week of the regular season.
