HS Softball: Monticello Downs Maroa-Forsyth

Cassidee Stoffel was brilliant again in circle and led Monticello over Maroa-Forsyth 5-1 in non-conference high school softball action on Wednesday in Forsyth. 

 

Stoffel went the distance, allowing just one run on three hits and striking out nine while walking only two.

 

Monticello took an early lead in the third inning when Sadie Walsh hit a double, scoring Lucy Leatherwood and making it 1-0.

 

The Sages extended their lead in the fifth inning when Cassidee Stoffel hit a double, bringing in both Leatherwood and Thea Key, pushing the score to 5-0.

 

Walsh led the Lady Sages, going 2-for-4 with the RBI double. Stoffel finished 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Leatherwood was 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

 

The Lady Trojans drop to 10-9 overall. They visit Warrensburg-Latham on Friday.

 

Monticello goes to 21-5 overall. They visit Rantoul today.
