HS Baseball: Normal West Rolls Peoria Notre Dame

Normal West downed Peoria Notre Dame 13-5 in Big 12 Conference high school baseball action from Normal on Wednesday. 

 

The Wildcats got on the board in the bottom of the first when Brady Hart singled in Cooper Temples for an early 1-0 lead. 

 

Peoria Notre Dame responded with two runs in the top of the second, but Normal West's offense came alive in the bottom half of the inning, scoring eight runs.

 

The rally began with Chase Knuth doubling to left field, bringing home Temples and Brady Hart. Later in the inning, Drew Hart connected for a double to center field, scoring Brady Hart and Knuth. Coone then singled to center, driving in Drew Hart. 

 

The Wildcats would add five more runs in the frame.

 

Normal West added a run in the third and three more in the sixth to secure the 13-5 victory.

 

Sam McCully led the Wildcats, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Temples was 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs. Drew Hart finished 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Coone went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Knuth had a double and an RBI, going 1-for-2. Brady Hart chipped in with an RBI single and a run scored.

 

Normal West is 17-9 overall and 11-3 in the Big 12. They visit Danville on Thursday.
