Jonah Roper was brilliant in tossing a complete-game shutout as Normal Community blanked Normal U-High 3-0 in non-conference high school baseball on Wednesday in Normal.
Roper allowed just a hit and no walks - going the distance - while striking out five.
The Ironmen scored three runs in the third. Max Heineman doubled to right field, allowing Kyle Beaty to score the game's first run. Drew Stevens followed with a single, scoring Gavin Swartz to extend the lead to 2-0. Gavin Michaels, who had a solid day at the plate with two hits, then singled home Max Heineman, making the score 3-0.
Swartz led Normal Community, going 2-for-4.
The Ironmen are 23-4 overall. They visit Peoria High on Friday for a doubleheader.
