HS Baseball: Normal Community Sweeps Friday Doubleheader with Peoria High

Normal Community downed Peoria High School twice with run-rule wins on Friday in Big 12 Conference high school baseball action in Peoria.

 

The Ironmen made quick work of the Lions in the first game, 17-0 in three innings. 

Chase Hendren finished 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead Normal Community. Gavin Van Kanegan was 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Jacob Engel was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs while Ethan VanOpdorp and Becket Weber doubled and drove in a run each.

 

Brody Reeves got the win with three innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts.

 

In the second game, the Ironmen needed five innings to run-rule Peoria 11-1. 

 

Landyn Corbin led the Normal Community offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Chase Hendren was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Holden Baldwin drove in two, finishing 2-for-2. Jackson Roper and Weber recorded doubles for the Ironmen

 

Van Kanegan struck out eight in three scoreless innings. Tyler Swanson fired two innings of one-hit, scoreless relief with two strikeouts for Normal Community.

 

The Ironmen improve to 25-4 overall and 15-1 in the Big 12 Conference. They travel to East Moline United on Saturday.
