Mt. Pulaski blanked Pawnee 10-0 in non-conference high school baseball action Mt. Pulaski on Friday.
A five-run second inning broke open a 1-0 game for the Hilltoppers. Chance Payne and Luke Martin hit back-to-back run-scoring singles. Aaron Volle scored Payne with a double, and Carter Clark added a run-scoring single. Tyler Cross brought in a run on a ground out to end the scoring in the frame.
Martin added a two-run single in the third inning, and an error two batters later brought in a run to make it 8-0 Mt. Pulaski.
Clark brought in the game-ending run with a base hit that scored Payne to give the Hilltoppers the run-rule win.
Martin was 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Mt. Pulaski. Cooper was 3-for-4. Clark finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Volle was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Cooper went six innings of one-hit ball for Mt. Pulaski. He struck out two.
The Hilltoppers are 17-4 overall. Mt. Pulaski travels to Buffalo to take on Tri-City on Monday.
