HS Baseball: Normal Community Sweep Double Header with United Township

Normal Community swept a Saturday doubleheader from United Township 10-3 and 8-2 in non-conference high school baseball action from East Moline. 

 

The Ironmen jumped out early with four runs before the Panthers responded with a run, making it 4-1. Normal Community scored six of the final eight runs to win the opener.

 

Drew Stevens was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Kyle Beaty was 2-for-3 while Carter Harris was 1-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Normal Community. Luke Beaty was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and Brady Burkhart finished 3-for-4. 

 

Jacob Engel led a trio of Ironmen arms, firing three scoreless innings.

 

In the second, Normal Community rolled to an 8-2 victory. 

 

Holden Baldwin was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gavin Van Kanegan finished 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. 

 

Caleb Hendren was 1-for-3 while Gavin Borne went 3-for-5 with an RBI. 

 

Andrew Naour struck out seven in three scoreless innings, while Luke Klunke earned the win, striking out six.

 

With its wins Saturday, Normal Community improves to 26-4 overall. They host Bloomington in Big 12 Conference play on Monday.
