Monticello did not get a chance to try for a comeback in a 3-0 loss to Effingham St. Anthony in a rain-shortened, non-conference high school baseball game in Monticello on Monday.
The game, originally slated to be played in Effingham, was moved to Monticello due to wet field conditions in Effingham. A brief, but strong rainstorm forced the game to be called off after four innings.
Ike Young allowed three runs - one was earned - across four innings for the Sages. The Illinois-commit struck out one and walked two, permitting five hits.
Eli Craft, Colton Vance, and Cole Basak had hits for Monticello.
The Sages are 24-5 overall. They will visit Clinton on Wednesday. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
