HS Baseball: Monticello Run-Rules Clinton

In a game heard on WHOW, 95.9 FM WEZC, and all their digital platforms, the Monticello Sages rolled the Clinton Maroons by a final score of 12-1 in run-rule non-conference high school baseball action from Clinton. 


The Sages started hot, scoring three runs in the top of the first courtesy of Dawson Gaitros, Carter Foran, and Eli Craft. The Maroons responded in the bottom half of the inning when Ryan Pine hit an RBI double that scored Colton Walker. 
It was all Monticello from there, as seven of nine Sages batters came across the plate during the outing. 


The Sages were led by Foran, who was one of two Servpro of Piatt/DeWitt County Players of the Game. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored three runs. Grant Kiger went 1-for-1 with two runs scored. Craft, Colton Vance, and Eric Arnold all went 1-for-3 while Gaitros went 1-for-4 with a run scored. 


The Maroons were led by Colton Walker, who was also the Servpro of Piatt/Dewitt Counties Player of the Game, going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Cole Fentress went 1-for-2 while Carter Bostic was 1-for-1. 


On the mound for Monticello was Carter Foran. He allowed one run on three hits, struck out six, and walked two.


With the win, Monticello improves to 24-5 while Clinton falls to 13-15. 


The Sages' next outing will be today when they play host to Champaign Central. 


Clinton will host Decatur St. Teresa on Friday. Hear the action on WHOW and all its digital platforms, first pitch is at 4:30 PM.
