HS Softball: Maroa-Forsyth Blanks Clinton

In a game heard on WHOW and all its digital platforms, Maggie Ravenscraft broke a scoreless tie with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, Danni Hovey struck out 14 in a complete game shutout, and Maroa-Forsyth beat Clinton 7-0 in Class 2A Regional quarterfinal action on Monday in Maroa.

 

After Ravenscraft's three-run home run, two batters later, Aubrey Steward doubled in Taylor Crouch to extend the Lady Trojans' lead to 4-0. 

 

Aubree Berg hit a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 7-0 Maroa-Forsyth.

 

Hovey permitted just two hits in circle for the Lady Trojans. 

 

Peyton Torbert and Adelynn Simmons each finished 2-for-3. 

 

Avery Smith and Hadley Humble had the only hits for the Lady Maroons.

 

Clinton finishes its season at 6-19 overall. 

 

Maroa-Forsyth improves to 12-13 overall. They will take on Tolono Unity in a Regional Semifinal tomorrow (Tuesday) in Monticello.
