Mt. Pulaski scored seven runs in the sixth inning and beat Villa Grove 7-1 in Class 1A high school baseball Regional action on Wednesday in Tuscola.
Liam Smith hit a three-run home run in the seven-run frame. Luke Martin and Aaron Volle hit back-to-back RBI doubles to break the game open. Chance Payne was 2-for-4 for the Hilltoppers.
Evan Cooper allowed an unearned run in a complete game effort. He struck out six while permitting six hits.
Mt. Pulaski goes for a Regional Championship on Saturday.
