Carter Foran pitched six innings of one-run ball, pacing Monticello past Tri-Valley 2-1 in Class 2A high school baseball Regional semifinal action on Wednesday in Decatur.

Foran struck out six in six innings, permitting three hits and two walks.

The senior was also 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. He doubled with one out in the bottom of the first inning and scored when Eli Craft singled to right field.

In the second inning, Monticello put runners on first and second with nobody out, but only scored one run on a Cole Basak RBI groundout.

Cade Danko drove in Cole Klein for the Vikings' only run of the game.

Monticello improves to 27-5 overall. They advance to Saturday's Regional Championship against Maroa-Forsyth in Forsyth.
