Brady Hart singled in Gage Flairty in the top of the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie and Normal West edged Mahomet-Seymour 2-1 in non-conference high school baseball action on Thursday in Mahomet.

Sam McCully hit a one-out double and Flairty was inserted as a courtesy runner. Hart singled to right, allowing Flairty to score.

Hart went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Wildcats. Chase Knuth was 2-for-4 with a triple while McCully was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Nolan Schultz added a double, going 1-for-3.

Chase Reinhart earned the win on the mound for Normal West, pitching 6 2/3 innings, allowing a run, and striking out six.

Normal West improved to 20-13 on the season.
