Normal Community scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and walked off with a ten-run rule win, 13-3 over Plainfield Central in a Class 4A Regional Championship from Moline on Saturday afternoon.
Max Heineman scored Gavin Michaels with a single to put the Ironmen up 13-3.
Normal Community jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the first inning. Gavin Swartz hit a two-run single to put the Ironmen up 3-2 in the bottom of the first inning. Two batters later, Gavin Swartz singled in two more to make it 5-2.
Swartz and Brady Burkhart drove in two runs apiece for the Ironmen. Burkhart finished 3-for-3 with a double. Michaels was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI for Normal Community.
Heineman and Kyle Beaty had two hits apiece, and eight of the nine starters reached base for Normal Community.
Three pitchers combined to strike out six and overcame seven walks.
Normal Community goes to 33-4 overall. They will take on Bradley-Bourbonnai on Wednesday at 7 pm in Sectional semifinal action from Illinois Wesleyan University. The Ironmen beat Bradley-Bourbonnais 4-1 back on April 19.
