Dedicated is how one local cross-country coach described her group of runners this year.
Clinton cross-country coach Rachel Anderson-Lyons explains that her athletes do a great job of getting runs in outside of practice, despite having a rather young team. Age aside, Clinton's boys finished higher last year than any cross country team in school history.
Coach Anderson-Lyons explains that physical maturity plays a big part in the development of runners, so combined with the success of last year, she expects her kids to have a great season.
It's easy to forget that cross-country is a team sport, but Coach Anderson-Lyons says her athletes have a lot of camaraderie and do a great job of investing in each other. She adds that her senior leadership has been outstanding.
This Saturday night, the Clinton cross-country team will participate in the Light It Up Meet, which started during COVID. Following the meet will be a fireworks show.
The Light It Up meet begins at 7:00 PM. Varsity boys will begin at 7:40, and Varsity girls will start at 8:15 PM.
