A high school football team's improvement often shows the most from week 1 of the season to week 2. 

For Monticello, Coach Cully Welter hopes his team realizes how much improvement they need to make after a 21-6 over IVC in week 1 in Chillicothe last Friday night.

Monticello will be a very young team to start the season. Coach Welter says a few things during their win went their way that allowed them to get IVC away from what they wanted to do offensively.

At 1-0, Monticello hosts rival Tolono Unity. The Sages upset the Rockets in the Class 2A State semifinal last fall. Unity boasts a lot of talent that returns from that team.
