Monticello will look to get back in the win column tonight when they visit Rantoul for Illini Prairie Conference high school football action.
The Sages lost 34-7 last week to Tolono Unity. Coach Cully Welter says his team did a lot of things well, but the Rockets are a very talented bunch.
This week, Coach Welter channeled his inner Kevin Roy - the Sage's varsity boys basketball coach who often says his teams focus on them throughout the season. He indicates his team has to be a gritty team if they're going to be successful this season.
Despite a long string of losing seasons, Coach Welter says you can never take Rantoul lightly, and after perhaps looking past IVC a bit in the opener, he wants his team dialed in this week.
Coach Welter is looking forward to getting TE Jake Robinson back this week. He left the opener at IVC with a high ankle sprain. His absence has put a couple of kids in positions they do not usually play.
Game time tonight is 7 pm. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
