HS FBall: Clinton Takes on El Paso-Gridley on Senior Night

Clinton returns home from a 42-6 loss at Shelbyville to battle El Paso-Gridley in week eight Heart of Central Illinois high school football.

Last week, Clinton showed a sustained offense that was able to work it's way into the redzone, but Coach Ron Bass says they left too many points on the table and was pleased with the progress in the team's passing game.

The Maroons will be missing some key pieces of their offense this week against the Titans, including senior Keaton Graves - who will miss the remainder of the season. Coach Bass indicates that they have some positions that do not have a backup.

El Paso-Gridley comes into this week with a perfect record (7-0) through seven weeks. Coach Bass says his team will face some of the most talented skill players they have seen all season, noting they will have to tackle well to contain the players he calls "home run hitters."

This season, the Maroons have been focusing on self-improvement and avoiding the same mistakes. While the outcomes have not been ideal this season, Coach Bass plans to make a lot of improvements in the off-season and is excited for next year.

Clinton enters week eight of the high school football season with a record of 0-7 and is 0-3 in the Heart of Central Illinois Conference. EPG is 7-0 and is 4-0 in the Conference.
