In a game heard on WHOW and all its digital platforms, the Clinton Maroons showed flashes of production on offense, but slid in the second half and fell to the Tremont Turks by a final score of 40-0.
Clinton allowed two touchdowns in the first quarter, but found themselves in the red zone twice in the second, while the Turks' offense suffered from mistakes. Unfortunately, the end zone hopes were dashed each time by an interception and bad snaps that would put the Maroons behind the sticks.
The Maroons were led by Senior QB Josh Bass, who threw for 94 yards and rushed for eight yards. Jaeden Bell received for 52 yards, while Zach Potts rushed for 16 yards on seven carries. Luther Fitch posted 27 receiving yards.
Big plays were the key for the Tremont offense, with four of its six touchdowns being from 30 yards or more.
The Turks were led by Senior RB Troy Keever, who achieved a hat trick with 113 yards on the ground. Brett Bane II threw for 164 yards and rushed for a five-yard touchdown. Josh Papenhause was the only receiver utilized, being on the other end of all 164 of Bane’s passing yards and two passing touchdowns.
With the loss, the Maroons finish their season without a win, falling to 0-9. Tremont also misses the playoffs with a final record of 2-7.
We will pick back up with the Maroons on November 17th, when Clinton’s Lady Maroons play in the Turkey Tussel Basketball Tournament, hosted at Clinton High School.
