After graduating four starters from last season, the Blue Ridge Knights boys basketball team knows it is going to be a rebuilding year.
Coach Hunter Green indicates the first few weeks of practice leading up to next week's season opener in Bloomington at the Calvary Academy holiday tournament are about building the right habits and doing things the right way.
Sophomore Prestone Jiles will be one of the young players Coach Green turns to this year for an increased role at the varsity level. Jiles is focused on getting better this year, both individually and as a team.
The only returning starter from last year is Austin Clark, and Coach Green is looking forward to him taking a big step forward. His brother Wesley was a key contributor on last year's team as well.
For Coach Green, preaching the message of the long-term goal of success is going to be a challenge this year; however, he is leaning into the rebuilding they did leading up to last year's 18-win season and some of the kids in the program that were around for that.
Blue Ridge opens the season Tuesday night in Bloomington, taking on Calvary Christian Academy.
