Boden Skunberg's 22 points helped Illinois State Redbirds defeat Charlotte 49ers 79-69 on Thursday from the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando.

Skunberg also had 10 rebounds for the Redbirds (5-2). Chase Walker scored 18 points and five rebounds. Ty'Reek Coleman finished with 13 points.

Ben Bradford finished with 23 points and seven rebounds for the 49ers (3-4). Major Freeman added 12 points and five assists for Charlotte.

The Redbirds take on Furman for the ESPN Events Invitational Tournament at 2 pm on Friday.
