The Maroa-Forsyth Trojans got ahead early and fended off a push from the Edinburg Wildcats, beating them 66-53 in non-conference high school season-opening basketball action Wednesday night in Maroa.
The Trojans were strong out of the gate, putting up a 21-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. Edinburg turned up the heat and held pace with Maroa-Forsyth; however, they were unable to overcome that first-quarter deficit.
Maroa-Forsyth was led by Caebrin Lee, who scored 32 points and shot 90.9 percent from the foul line. Coby Lane scored 19 points and made five shots from beyond the arc.
With the win, the Trojans kick off the season at 1-0 while Edinburg falls to 2-3.
The Trojans come to Clinton to take on the Maroons at 7:30 PM on Friday. You can hear all the action on WHOW and all its digital platforms.
