In a game heard on WHOW and all its digital platforms, the Clinton Lady Maroons kept it close through most of the first quarter, but built up a lead right before half and never looked back to beat the Roanoke-Benson Lady Rockets 62-35 on Thursday night in non-conference high school girls basketball action in Clinton.
The Lady Maroons struggled to get ahead early, with only a 13-10 lead after the first quarter. They used strong second and fourth quarter performances to build up their lead throughout the game.
Clinton was led by Carly Anderson, who led all scorers with 24 points, while Clara Dempsey had 22. Both made three from beyond the arc. Lilah Cluver added nine points.
Roanoke-Benson was led by Bri Harms with 10 points and Josie Weber had six.
With the win, Clinton improves to 7-4 while the Lady Rockets fall to 8-5.
The Lady Maroons will play host to the Rochester Lady Rockets on Monday at 6:00 PM.
