In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Matthias Rudolph scored the first seven points of the game, scoring a game-high 25 and the Sages beat Neoga going away, 63-36 in its opener from the Holiday Hoopla tournament at the Sievers Center in Monticello.
Rudolph was a rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards. Nolan Buehnerkemper had a season-high 17 points with eight rebounds and five assists. Aden McCool had ten points.
Buehnerkemper's breakout performance of the season earned him the State Bank of Bement player of the game.
Monticello dominated on the glass, with a 36-21 advantage.
The Sages shot 52-percent from the floor and held the Indians to 30-percent shooting.
Monticello goes to 6-1 overall and will take on GCMS on Friday night from the Hoopla.
