HS BBBall: Monticello Rallies Past GCMS

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Monticello overcame an early 10-point deficit and rallied to beat GCMS 67-49 on Friday night in pool play from the Monticello Holiday Hoopla at the Seivers Center. 

Matthias Rudolph scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half, helping Monticello outscore the Falcons 44-23 in the second half and pull away late for the win. Rudolph was the State Bank of Bement player of the game. 

Nolan Buehnerkemper had a tournament-high and career-best 17 rebounds with six points. Ayden McCool scored 14 points, and Gus Reppert scored eight of his ten points in the fourth quarter. 

Greydon Leonard finished with 19 points to lead GCMS. Tucker Mueller added 17 points. 

Monticello shot 47-percent from the floor and 65 percent in the second half. After going 3-of-13 from three in the first half, the Sages made 6-of-13 threes in the second half. 

Monticello held GCMS to 35 percent shooting. Monticello also controlled the glass 37-29. 

Monticello improves to 7-1 overall. They will battle Ridgeview on Saturday afternoon for a berth in the Hoopla Championship game on Monday night.
