In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Ali Weidner scored nine of her game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter and helped Monticello get by Maroa-Forsyth 48-43 in non-conference high school girls' basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Sievers Center in Monticello.
The Lady Sages trailed 30-26 going into the fourth quarter, but Weidner took the game over in the fourth quarter to will her team to a much-needed win.
The Lady Trojans struggled without Avery Braden - its all-time leading scorer in program history. Kali Kahler scored 11 of her team-best 19 points in the first half, but struggled to score late. Rilinida Ballazhi finished with ten points for Maroa-Forsyth.
The Lady Trojans fall to 11-6 overall.
Monticello goes to 12-9 and will travel to IVC on Tuesday night for an Illini Prairie Conference matchup.
