Monticello picked up its third win this week in a 47-45 win over Seneca on Saturday afternoon from the Seneca Shootout in high school girls basketball action.
The Lady Sages led 14- after the first quarter, the Lady Irish would tie the game at 22-22 at the half. Monticello pushed the advantage to 30-26 after three and held on in the fourth quarter.
It was a free throw shooting contest, with a combined 56 attempts.
Seneca was just 16-of-35 as a team, while Monticello finished 14-of-21.
Three players scored in double figures for the Lady Sages. Madi Melton led the way with 12 points and finished 8-for-9 at the charity stripe. Ali Weidner and Emma Arnold each had ten points. Arnold had a double-double with ten rebounds.
Lexi Leatherwood finished with nine points and seven boards for the Lady Sages. Sara Cresap fouled out with just two points.
Monticello goes to 15-12 overall. They travel to Pontiac on Monday afternoon for an Illini Prairie Conference tilt.
