The Clinton Maroons were defeated by the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals by a final score of 77-44 in the championship game of the Central Illinois Conference Tournament on Friday night at Tuscola.
The Maroons fell behind early, trailing 21-13 after the first quarter, and 36-22 at the half. They held pace with the Cardinals in the third quarter, with the score being 58-41 heading into the final frame.
Clinton caught the turnover bug in the fourth quarter and only managed a three-pointer from Jaeden Bell.
Keaton Graves led the Maroons with 14 points, and Bell had 12. Keagan Daughtrey had nine points, seven of which came in the first half.
Drew Czajkowski led all scorers with 20 points for Warrensburg-Latham. Nathan Southern added 18 points, while Alex Hardin had 14. Easton McKenzie and Brennan Bonds scored 13 and 12, respectively.
With the loss, Clinton falls to 20-7 and 3-1 in the Central Illinois Conference. Warrensburg Latham improves to 23-4 and 4-0 in the CIC. The Cardinals take home the CIC Tournament Trophy.
Clinton will play host to Central A&M on Friday the 13th. Tip-off is at 7:30 PM.
