HS BBBall: Maroa-Forsyth Defeats Westville

The Maroa-Forsyth Trojans defeated the Westville Tigers by a final score of 54-50 in a Class 2A boys basketball Regional Semifinal matchup on Wednesday night in Maroa. 

 

The Trojans were strong on defense to open the game, taking a 16-7 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers punched back in the second to cut the lead to 25-23 at halftime, but they couldn't get any closer. 

 

Caebrin Lee led all scorers with 20 points for Maroa-Forsyth. Coby Lane added 15 points, and Kannon Grubbs had 12 points, all of which came from distance. 

 

Easton Barney led the way for Westville with 15 points. Aiden White scored 14 points, and Kiptyn Appl had 11. 

 

Westville was handed its only loss of the season by the Trojans, finishing the season with a record of 31-1.

 

With the win, Maroa-Forsyth improves to 21-8 and advances to the Regional Championship on Friday against Tolono Unity in Maroa.
