Caebrin Lee scored 10 of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter, but his heroics were not enough as Tolono Unity beat Maroa-Forsyth 53-49 in Class 2A High School boys basketball Regional Championship action on Friday in Maroa.
The Trojans trailed 39-33 going to the final frame, and Lee had 10 of the Trojans 16 fourth-quarter points. Unfortunately, balanced scoring and efficient free throw shooting allowed the Rockets to avenge a loss in the Regional Championship last year against Monticello at Westville.
The Rockets made seven of ten free throws down the stretch and had very balanced scoring in a low-scoring, defensive struggle.
Dane Eisenmenger had 11 points to lead Tolono Unity. Brayden Henry had ten points. Mason O'Neill and Tyler Henry each scored nine points, and Colton Langendorf scored eight.
Maroa-Forsyth finishes the season 21-9 overall.
Tolono Unity will advance to a Wednesday night Sectional semifinal game in Monticello. Tip time is at 6:30 pm. They will play either Vandalia or Fairfield.
