HS Baseball: Lincoln Edges Tri-Valley in Season Opener

Lincoln used timely hitting and a dominant start from Carson Fuiten to sneak past Tri-Valley 2-1 in its season-opener on Wednesday in Lincoln in non-conference high school boys baseball.

Trailing 1-0 in the second, the Railsplitters evened the score after Chase March doubled to left and Karson Komnick drove him in with a single to right.

Lincoln scored the go-ahead run in the fifth when Austin Lucas drew a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and then swiped third before coming home on the same play to make it 2-1.

March led the offensive effort, finishing 2-for-3 with that key double. Komnick, Tate Aue, Lucas, and Cooper Koehler each added a hit for the Railsplitters.

Carson Fuiten fired six innings of one-run ball, scattering seven hits while striking out six. Grady Rutledge threw a hitless seventh to secure the save.

The Railsplitters start the season 1-0. They will host Riverton this Friday at 4:30 PM.
