The Morton Potters used a seven-run second inning to build an early cushion and held off a late rally from Normal West for a 10-5 win in non-conference high school baseball action Thursday in Morton.
Morton broke the game open in the second with seven runs.
Sam McCully delivered a two-run double to center field, driving in Mayson Aslinger and Ty Bachman to make it 10-4.
McCully led the Wildcat offense, finishing 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a double. Charlie Hanks was a bright spot at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Jack Steidinger and Drake Rumps each added hits for West.
Normal West falls to 0-2 on the season. The Wildcats will head into spring break action Monday against Chilton County in Alabama.
