HS Softball: Monticello Cruises Past ALAH

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Monticello scored 14 runs in the first inning and rolled to an easy 18-0, four inning run-rule win over Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond in non-conference high school girls softball action from Monticello on Friday.

Sadie Walsh was 3-for-4 for Monticello with two RBIs and two runs scored. Madison Highland drove in three runs. Ali Weidner had three RBIs while Reese Stiger hit a two-run home run in the second inning. Cassidee Stoffel had two RBIs.

Lillie Burse threw three innings of shutout relief for the Lady Sages. She struck out five in relief of Highland in circle after the 14-run outburst.

Monticello goes to 2-1. They travel to Fisher on Saturday morning.
