Austin Lucas celebrated his commitment to John A Logan Community College on Tuesday with an RBI groundout in the first inning, helping back a complete game by Carson Fuiten as Lincoln held off Springfield High 2-1 in Central State Eight Conference high school baseball action on Tuesday in Springfield.

Lucas' RBI groundout was followed by an Owen Comstock RBI hit. It was all Fuiten would need. He went seven innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts.

Fuiten outdueled Springfeld's Brody Scheffler, who struck out 17 and also went the distance for the Senators.

The Railsplitters mustered just four base runners on the game.

Springfield drops to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Central State Eight.

Lincoln goes to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in the CS8. The Railsplitters visit Lanphier on Wednesday.
