HS Baseball: Clinton Blanks Meridian

Brock Wilson's RBI groundout in the first inning was all Cooper Massey needed in his first-ever varsity appearance, leading Clinton to a 1-0 win over Meridian in Central Illinois Conference high school baseball action in Meridian on Tuesday.

The Maroons' freshman struck out eight and allowed just three hits and two walks for his first career varsity appearance - a complete game, shutout victory. He needed just 95 pitches to earn the win on Tuesday - he threw 56 pitches for strikes.

Jaxson Reynolds, Josh Bass, Ryan Pine, and Mitchell Cornwell had hits for Clinton.

Meridian drops to 6-3 overall.

Clinton goes to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in the CIC. They'll host Williamsville on Wednesday.
