HS Baseball: Normal West Blanks Champaign Centennial

Mayson Aslinger followed up a big day at the plate on Tuesday with a big day on the mound on Wednesday, leading Normal West to a 2-0 win over Champaign Centennial in Big 12 high school baseball action in Normal.

Aslinger struck out eight in 5 1/3 shutout innings. He walked one and permitted four hits. Bryson Edwards closed out the win with 1 2/3 innings of shutout relief. He struck out two and did not permit a hit or a walk. 

Aslinger was a double short of the cycle in a 9-1 win over Metamora on Tuesday - driving in two runs. 

Tanner Nolin accounted for the lone RBI for the Wildcats. No Normal West player had multiple hits. Nolin, Aslinger, Charlie Hanks, and Sam McCully collected hits. 

Normal West improves to 7-4 overall and starts 1-0 in the Big 12. The Wildcats visit Centennial on Friday.
