HS Baseball: Monticello Topples Decatur St Teresa

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Forrest Rawdin threw five innings of two-run ball and drove in a run in a Monticello 12-2 five-inning, run-rule win over Decatur St. Teresa in non-conference high school baseball on Wednesday afternoon in Monticello.

Rawdin allowed two runs on three hits. The junior struck out seven and walked one - helping the Sages in its 12th straight to start the season.

Rawdin also drove in a run in a decisive five-run fifth inning that ended the game on the ten-run rule. 

He was the State Bank of Bement player of the game.

Grant Kiger blasted a two-run home run in a four-run first inning for the Sages. Matthias Rudolph was 2-for-3 with a triple and drove in two runs. Dawson Gaitros scored three times atop the Monticello lineup. 

Jarrett Hess was 1-for-3 with a two-run double for the Bulldogs, who drop to 6-5 overall.

Monticello goes to 12-0 overall. They open Illini Prairie Conference action on Thursday at Tolono Unity.
