HS Softball: Clinton Splits Saturday Doubleheader

Grace Streenz and Karissa Cook drove in four runs apiece, and Heyworth blasted Clinton 19-1 in a five-inning, run-rule win in the first of two games on Saturday at Clinton High School in softball action. 

Streenz doubled three times, finishing 3-for-4. Coooke was 4-for-5, and Emerson Becker finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in. 

Hadley Humbe had the only RBI for Clinton, as she was 1-for-2. 

In the second game, Clinton rebounded for a 10-0 win over El Paso-Gridley. 

The Lady Maroons used a balanced offensive attack - led by Analise Thompson's two RBIs from the bottom of the order.

Aliviyah Hayes, Avery Smith, Campbell Bass, and Humble added doubles in the second game. Smith drove in two runs. Humble, Bass, Lainey Brewer, Khloey Riddle, and Haynes drove in runs for Clinton.

Bass struck out 14 in five hitless innings. The sophomore walked four.

Clinton goes to 5-9 overall. They travel to Warrensburg to take on Warrensburg-Latham on Tuesday.
