HS SOFTBALL: Maroa-Forsyth Downs Clinton In Regional Semis

In a game heard Tuesday afternoon on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons fell to the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans 4 to 0 in the Class 2A Regional Semifinal at Illinois Wesleyan University.

The Trojans managed 2 runs in the bottom of the first, and then 2 more in the bottom of the third.  Clinton managed only two hits in the game, both with two outs in the top of the 6th.  A two out walk loaded the bases, but a fly out to right ended the threat.

Trojan Senior Marina Rohman pitched a gem. She struck out 10 while walking only 1 in the two-hit shutout win.   Megan Holub went 3 for 4 for the Trojans with two doubles and two runs scored.  Tori Thomas also went 2 for 3 with a triple, double, and 3 runs batted in.

Clinton's Ashley Armstrong pitched well, but took the loss.  The junior allowed 4 runs on 10 hits with one strikeout and no walks.   Freshman Mea Kivlehan broke up the no-hitter in the sixth to earn the WHOW/Serv Pro of Piatt Dewitt County Player of the Game.  Sophomore Brooke Reeves also went 1 for 3 for the Maroons.

Clinton ends its season at 4-20 on the year. Maroa-Forsyth improves to 25-8 on the season, and advances to Friday's Regional Championship against Normal U-High.  The Pioneers topped Tri-Valley, 4 to 2, Tuesday night.
