Over the Fourth of July weekend, the City of Clinton lost a great individual who cared deeply about the community.

Tom Edmunds passed away on July 3 at the age of 74. At the Tuesday night Clinton City Council meeting, Commissioners shared their memories of Edmunds, who served several terms on the Clinton City Council, including two stints as Mayor. Commissioner John Wise says there may not have been a person in the community who knew more about Clinton than Edmunds.

Commissioner Kenney Buchanan recalled Edmunds' many roles in his time working for the City of Clinton and then working together on the Council.

Commissioner Dan Ballenger kept his comments brief - noting Edmunds' heart for Clinton.

Services for Edmunds will be at 11 AM, Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, L, with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 9 – 11 AM, Friday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Organ Fund at Clinton Presbyterian Church or the Clinton Rotary Club.
