One of the most important traditions in fairs across the country is taking place tonight in Farmer City. 

Shaila Clifton, Queen Pageant Director for the Farmer City Fair, indicates that tonight the most participants they've had in years will compete in three different classes in the Fair Queen Pageant.

Earlier today, participants went through an interview process. Clifton says this can be daunting for the girls, but it is largely questions about themselves and an opportunity to brag about yourself to the judges. 

The responsibilities of the fair queen are not over after she wins; in fact, they are just getting started as the winners travel around the fair throughout the weekend and participate in events.
