Students in Clinton are less than a week from returning to class and local authorities are gearing up for a busy start to the new school year.

On the WHOW Morning Show Tuesday, Clinton Police Department School Resource Officer Kody Mair told the Hart Media Group the usual traffic patterns are in place at Clinton Elementary School, but changes at Clinton's Lincoln and Douglass Schools are going to present new challenges for parents and law enforcement.

According to Officer Mair, there are stiff penalties for motorists who disobey the traffic signals on a school bus.

Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers indicates school leaders and law enforcement have many years of experience in coming up with these recommendations for parents.

Students in Clinton go back to class on Monday, Aug. 17.
