The Clinton Board of Education last week approved a familiar face for its interim superintendent role.

Chuck Nagel returns to Clinton. The longtime educator and coach is beloved in Clinton and will lead the district as it seeks a permanent leader. In the meantime, Nagel says it is good to be back in Clinton, calling it 'home'.

After his time in Clinton, Nagel moved on to leadership positions in the Peoria area, and since his retirement, he worked for the company selling turf for several central Illinois districts' sports facilities as well as local government boards.

The need for an interim superintendent in Clinton comes after the Board of Education and previous superintendent Drew Goebel agreed to part ways.

Nagel comes to Clinton at a time of great transition. The district will need to fill a vacancy on the School Board; they will be hiring a principal and assistant principal at the high school, as well as a negotiation year for the union.
