The Piatt County Sheriff's Office is celebrating receiving a grant that will improve and even expand its communication.
On the WHOW Morning Show Tuesday, Piatt County Sheriff Mark Vogelzang told the Hart Media Group that, thanks to a grant, they were able to purchase a year's subscription to a program called 'Tango Tango'.
The Piatt County Sheriff's Office was connected to the Heart of Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, and the Department's request for the $3000 subscription was approved.
According to Sheriff Vogelzang, the beauty of this program is that while it is internet-based, there is very little lag time in hearing the communication. Additionally, during a critical incident, they can grant access to any agency that would be involved in the response.
Sheriff Vogelzang reminds that the Department took on a major overhaul of its communication equipment that was finished last year, as Piatt County's emergency responses had battled issues in parts of the County over the years.
