While the weather is still nice, a local historian is encouraging the community to join them in their walking tour series.
Candace Summers, Senior Director of Education with the McLean County Museum of History, explains that the next opportunity to go on a Downtown Bloomington Architecture Tour led by her is Thursday, August 20th at 5:30 PM. She says they dive into the architecture itself and the history of the people and businesses that occupied the buildings.
Two more opportunities are coming up to participate in the President Lincoln & Downtown Bloomington walking tours on August 29th and September 12th. These cover our 16th president and his involvement in the local judicial system, as well as the people who helped get him nominated for his presidency.
Summers has received positive feedback on both of these walking tours from those who have participated. She says before Lincoln's presidency, Bloomington was likely the place he spent the most time in outside of his home in Springfield.
