HS Baseball: Monticello Outlasts New Berlin in 10 Innings

Jake Motsegood plated the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning and Monticello walked off New Berlin 3-2 in non-conference high school baseball action on Saturday in Monticello.

Dawson Gaitros singled with one out. Cole Basak was then hit by a pitch to set up first-and-second with one out. Koyie Williams hit a hard liner to third for the second out. Grant Kiger walked to load the bases, and Motsegood delivered the game-ending hit to short to preserve Monticello's unbeaten start to the 2026 spring season. 

The Pretzels got two in the first, but Koyie Williams singled home two to tie the score in the fifth.

Jax Bailey doubled twice among his three hits to lead the Sages offensively. Motsegood had three hits as well. 

Forrest Rawdin struck out seven in four innings of work. Zeke Young followed with seven strikeouts in five innings of shutout ball, and Dawson Gaitros earned the win while striking out two in an inning of shutout relief.
